Sometimes people say to me "I don't know how you do it". Usually they are refering to mothering two little boys, keeping a healthy marriage, running a business while holding a full-time job, traveling up and down the east coast for visits, etc. And the truth is...I don't. I mean, I do, but there is always something that is inched to the side of the plate as another takes focus (Pictured above, it is the heaping laundry that is being used as a springboard that I can't seem to get folded). Balance is so difficult that just coming close is rewarding. But it is all of this that gives me the understanding take photos the way I do. I don't disrupt or disturb or pose the roaming....but capture what is that makes it gorgeous just as it is. Holy crap... these clothes are only going to get bigger...

Anywhere Photographer

If you are new to the blog, welcome to Anywhere. On my son's second birthday, I started a series of photographs featuring him in this chair. The photos are usually straight on and a touch asymmetrical. The concept is that Remy could sit in the chair and be taken anywhere his mind could take him. Here, it is his Grams' house on the cove with a Pez dispenser. Do anything. Be anyone. Go Anywhere. But while you're there, Cherish every moment. It Flies By.

Maryland Photographer...and Artist

I have been trying to remind myself lately that I am an artist. I started a home project last week to create an art gallery that goes down the longest wall in my house...right in the middle. It is the load-bearing wall. Art has been that for me. It has held me standing, and often I forget to celebrate the gift I have. But, when that wall is covered in the art and family I have made, I will feel I have done my creations justice. I thought I would share another shot from Angelica's shoot that I worked on this morning. Yes, I am on a light beam obsession. I added the wings, which is not just cutting out and slapping wings in there since this shot is mostly backlit, and she is covered in the sunglare spectrum. There is art in everyday moments, but sometimes it feels good just to make things up like wings and saturation and tiny light embers at your fingertips. Cherish every moment. It Flies By.

Maryland Entertainment Photographer: Angelica

What a day! Who could ask for anything more?!!?!? I was contacted by a friend today to photograph her cousin, Angelica, a music artist from California. While I traipsed around Downs Park with Angelica, snapping wildly, in love with the weather, the pop of her lips, and texture abound..... my children were playing just yards away on the playground--Shay resting on my friend's hip. Love love love these photos and Urban Outfitter meets Wonder Woman style. Thanks for the opportunity Angelica! Cherish every moment. It Flies By.

Maryland Infant Photographer: Narcissus is Born!

Some of you may remember my post a while back of an expecting mother laying in a bed of Narcissus. Well... her baby is here. At 9-weeks old, he was pretty happy, calm, and alert--a pleasure to shoot. Cherish every moment. It Flies By.

Maryland Photographer: Happy Indepedence Day

Liberty, Freedom, Independence. I think the first time children feel that is riding a bike. Freedom from a closely guarded or fenced yard. Freedom to cruise the block or the neighborhood. Even if they are so little as to have the parent controlled handle behind them.... there is something freeing about choosing (or thinking you are choosing)a direction all your own at any age. I took these at Catonsville High School this morning, where there was a lollipop hunt and a bike decorating contest among other games. Cherish every moment. It Flies By.
