I know this is many more images than I usually post from a shoot. I need to make an important point, and I think this is a great way to do it. Proofs. Most professional photographers give the customer proofs from which to choose. Then, they charge per image for processing and printing. I don't. All images that I think best reflect the family, the moments, the emotions are retouched, digitally enhanced and cropped. You do not have to compare, toss aside the second favorite to stay within budget, or wonder--"What did they do with that sheet of photos (I did not choose)?" Images that are similar in color and style with variations in mood make excellent groupings on the wall. Here, a tender kiss, a budding acrobat, and a classic smile will show the full character of these brothers when hung beside one another. Below, a boy shows his independence and his desire for support from his parents alike. He shows his brother something new in the world. A beautiful mother glows with love for her baby. Why choose when you can have it all? Cherish every moment. It Flies By.

My friend Lisa called today. She is busy like me. Between jobs, she called me to tell me about a photo contest depicting mothers. I searched through my photos since I have been a mother....and what an eye opener. My babies call me Mama. Here we are for you to see. I hope I can give other people this gift of looking back and of seeing love. If you want to leave a comment describing your favorite (before 10 am tomorrow), I will consider it before making my submission, but I am leaning toward the top photo of Remy and me making faces. DaVida must be the happiest pregnant woman I have ever seen. Her little girl is due in 6 days and I can't wait to meet her. She called me a few hours before the shoot. "Do I need to wear makeup? I don't wear makeup. Can I wear what I wore to work?" My answer was "Be yourself and be comfortable." She did, and I don't think there is any question that the result was just amazingly natural beauty. I was obsessed with the texture and personality her braids gave to the photos. Braids--three pieces of hair that become something new when woven together....a lot like a new family! Cherish every moment. It Flies By. (Faster than I can upload--there may be a baby girl by now!)
I had an on-location family shoot today at 9am. When I arrived, I asked if I could walk around the house to get a feel for the set up to see where the light lay in our surroundings. The friendly response I got was "Sure! Just don't fall off the cliff!" After a bit of shooting, we found the sweet spot of texture and flora with a nice background and tree filtered light on a small slate path--on the safe side of the cliff! I can't wait to get through all the images. Cherish every moment. It Flies By.
Remy has been great with identifying colors lately, with newest additions of brown, black, and white. This week, I wore a black and lavender top to work. When I came home, he called me "purple Mama". These blue grape hyacinth sprung up in the yard last week. He just calls them "purples". I took this photo early this week of "purples" in the rain. Cherish every moment. It Flies By.
Ivy is a very peaceful baby and was welcomed to the church by family and friends. Cherish every moment. It Flies By.
I photographed a baptism this morning. I hope to have photos up soon. Enjoy the day with family! Cherish every moment. It Flies By.
Tiffany is expecting her baby in just five short weeks. She was a pleasure to photograph, and was truly comfortable with her beautiful shape. Narcissus, or Dafodils, are named after the Greek mythological character who fell in love with his own reflection--here, they are bowing to the gracefully posed Tiffany. There are so many shots--I had trouble choosing which to post. I can't wait to meet the little one when he is born. I know his name--but I wont post it. I remember not wanting people to steal my names!!! Cherish every moment. It Flies By.
Dillon is featured in my portfolio on my website. There, he is the 10 week old baby in the basket in my back yard! Well, he turned a year old last month. Happy first Birthday Dillon! It has been a pleasure to watch you grow through my view finder. We'll shoot again next month! Cherish every moment. It Flies By.
Here are some of our Spring photos. We like to go up the road to CCBC on Rolling Road in Catonsville. The campus clears out for Spring Break, and the Arnold family rolls in to snap a few photos. I love the stone work there. Last year, Remy wasn't even walking! This year, it was too much to juggle to try to get him to sit for a shot. So, we got him running out of frame instead... which I think really marks where we are! I will have to go back to get my photo of the boys. Cherish every moment. It Flies By.
